Oh yeah, Here is a cool idea Rhys had. A leather bag for your mail shirt. I made 3 of these for our trip and they worked great. I treated my bag with "Hubbards shoe grease" and I have almost zero rust on my shirt. [img]http://globaleffects.com/Temp/b...

To whoever was looking for hidden gauntlets?
Somewhere here I read a post about someone looking for a way to make early period gauntlets. I can’t find it. So, here is what I was going to post. This is what I made for a recent trip to Europe to fight with the wild Polish Viking groups. http://globaleffects.com/Temp/gauntlet68.jpg Okay, here i...

Lovely stuff! The longhouse is a nice touch. That shield is gorgeous! Who made it? Thanks, I did. There is a thread here on it. Here is a shot of the whole crew at Moesgaard. Re: The story of "The Ugo's" First spring steel pr
Well…that is the story of The Ugo’s first spring steel project. I hope it is a lesson to not let difficulty get you down, and not lose hope. Y'know, the take away lesson I got from this is, "Beware of working for people who can't be bothered to mark their steel." I mark my steel. The lesson I t...

Yes very nice helms. The top one screams horse tail plume. I like Coppergate helms very well too. How did you do the brass edging? Did you grind a special chisel for the detail around the brass back band? What did you hammer into? The back side support anvil thingy... Lead? Sorry for all the questi...

Nice work. I love the snake heads. Really nice, even without any direct supervision. I told Greg, that I gave you a DVD with some of our "direct supervision" recoreded on it, so that is how you made such a nice piece without us. BTW...... I found this really thin "spring steel" piece you did for me ...

This discrepancy in original and reproduction leather tooling has been of interest to me of late. I have noticed that most modern tooled leather reproductions suffer from a sort of modern style issue. I used to do a great deal of tooled leather and because of these things; I have studied many period...

You may try the Moesgaard museum in Arhus. I have a 9 volume set of books from there on the Illerrup finds and there are a number of pouches and stikers shown. They have a single volume in English that I believe you can get from Windrose armoury. Here is a page from their museum: Look at the first a...

I'm going on a trip to Europe and needed some new luggage. I know it's a bit decedent, but I have this fancy shield and I don't want it damaged. It's 2 nesting pieces so it will expand for other shields. http://globaleffects.com/Temp/shieldcase.jpg http://globaleffects.com/Temp/shieldcase2.jpg

Well, I bid for L'Arte Dell'Armatura in Italia until I got to $400.00 and the reserve was still not met. Oh well. I would have spent more for it a few months ago before I bought other stuff. That is the most I can currently afford to spend now though. Gaston, if you end up not selling this via auct...

Sir Gaston, does the "1380" Russian book have lots of illustrations like the one shown on the cover and example page? It reminds me of the Peter Connolly books of the late 70's, which I collect, and I'd love to get something similar by another author (more particularly the illustrator, in the case)...

William, That's fine. Although, I wouldn't have thought it a "game", ebay is an auction. My appologies to any who feel that it is unfair or some type of trick to have undisclosed reserves. My business is not reselling on ebay, I just want to make sure these items are not sold for too little, if so I...

Would you care to fill us in on the reserves? I see this all the time with auctions and I don't understand it. Please don't take offenses to this, but I am always surprised at people asking about reserves. Reserves are there to insure the item is not sold way under a selected value. They are secret...

Rare Armour books & 14th C. Globose Kit
Hey folks, Here are a few duplicate Armour books I have up for sale. Many are hard to come by. All are in very good condition, I just ended up with multiple copies. The German ones: m This one has some great stuff. m Another good one: m Here is a very interesting Russian book on the 14th C. m A grea...
