It has been awhile since I have posted anything. Here is the current exterior: The columns still need to be painted white and the bases installed. The wood above will be covered when the second floor is on. http://www.globaleffects.com/Temp/house86.jpg Here is the interior. The walls are still plain...

The Vikings traded a lot, right? The beads may have been made by another group and purchased. I'm just glad they didn't find a katana. But they have found buddha's in viking era graves in Scandinavia..... And a pouch made from monitor lizard skin... Yep, and I know a guy with a Lamborghini (the rea...

My original persona was 17th century, when it was thought the SCA cut off was 1650. (Before the internet kids) Then, having a 1600’s cut off confirmed; I shifted it to the 14th century. I told people that I was a 17th century historical reenactor while in my 14th c. gear. When in my Cavalier, I ex...

Archaeologists baffled over ‘bizarre’ Viking discovery
m Archaeologists baffled over ‘bizarre’ Viking discovery By Gordon Deegan A Team of Irish archaeologists is puzzled by the "bizarre" discovery of a 1,150-year-old Viking necklace in a cave in the Burren. Besides being the largest by far – up to 12 times longer than previous finds –...

you _can_ convert one, but I wouldn't reccomend it. Unless you can get one of the old solid cast iron types. Metal bandsaws are designed with things like coolant, chip-resistant bearings, tyres that won't suffer from metal chips, etc. Wood ones _aren't_. No not really. Light duty metal band saws th...

I had someone here post that some of my work (Vendel helm), was not in fact my work, but was made by other people in my shop and I do this all the time, claiming others work as my own. (I believe he was the son of a self proclaimed legend in the film business, who is more talented at making people b...

One thing I have not read here is that spring also keeps lames from getting tweaked out of shape. If properly shaped, lames should lay perfectly smooth against each other, something it seems many modern armourers do not do, but if they are, and made from mild, then they get tweaked and you cannot ge...

Another option for when you are in a pinch for a particular alloy is to shear slivers off the edge of the same material you are using to use as filler. Not a good idea for large jobs, of course, but it saved me from having to buy a pound of Titanium do do a few inches of weld repairs. Not always tr...
