Chris I have a dilemma for you, I found a used Airco tig/stick machine rated 300 amps 220 1ph for 1000, would you go with that or a miller or lincoln economy tig? I would have to agree, Miller. My father really disliked Lincon welders, but that was 35 years ago and I haven't used anything but a Mil...

Todays progress: I completed one test upright assembly. All of the parts needed (1 of 12) for the 4x4 upright and the 2x10 frame. Goes together in less than a minute and needs only one tool. (If you don't count me) The bottem of the 4x4 is wrapped in galvanized steel to take up some room and stabliz...

Todays progress: I made a prototype of the box beam/joist hangers and the mating slots in the 4x4 support tubes. http://www.globaleffects.com/Temp/joistbracket2.JPG Once it's in place it makes a nice tight joint. http://www.globaleffects.com/Temp/joistbracket.JPG The top 4x4, once bolted in place, t...

Forget Pennsic. If you can fit it in a shipping container, with the support and installation equipment, FEMA would like a word with you, Chris. With all of that foam, it should be nice and temperate inside with only a small heating/cooling load. I have thought of this. The foamed gutters is a durab...

Thanks for the info about the Yahoo group. The house is near the 16 ft. limit. I’m not sure what joist brackets you are referring to, as I have made my own joist attachment system. I also don’t see what wood swelling will affect, as my joist hooks clip into steel fittings. The box beams are bein...

Pennsic House
Those who have traveled to Pennsic most likely know of Casa Bardicci. Last Pennsic I was asked to camp with the Baron in his fabulous Casa. I could not take this invitation lightly. So, as a result, I have decided to make a house fitting the Barons incredible Pennsic casa. I thought folks may be int...

I have to tell you, I would be very worried Sorbothane will be to dense if used alone. As I understand it, Sorbothane is made to absorb a different type of shock than an SCA helmet is going to recieve. There is 30 years of data that shows regular urethane foam works well, I would be worried about he...

Are the female molds made out of RenShape? Looks like the color of the stuff we used for CNC IBM prototypes when I worked in a design shop. Saved a bunch of off cuts which have been usefull for mold positives in sand casting. No, Bondo/Resin and urethane foam. I don't use CNC much. Machines too exs...
