Well done!
This is how we do casts for film costume work. You can mix the alginate very "thin" by dental standards and there is no real need to lubricate the arm, as the alginate will not stick. For legs, I build a “bootâ€

Lee,
My comment was related to the person wanting an SCA legal Boba Fet helmet. I see you are in Burbank, if you and your son need any help with your project, feel free to contact me. I have a full shop for just this sort of thing.

I have seen so many rabbit pelts for sale without their rabbits; I would think the rabbit hide glue doesn't work so well on the rabbits either!

Nice effort, it is nice to see different styles of armour being made, but it seems too big. Not well tailored. The helmet looks too big or perhaps too round.

Nice looking. Nice clean looking pattern.
I wimped out in putting the dot pattern on mine. Nice tip for getting the dots straight. That was the main reason I didn't do punch work on mine, the crooked lines bugged me.

You know what is jumping out at me on this one? The angle of the knee cop. And that is something I have _always_ noticed in effigy vs recreated armor.. is that legs are "slanted" kinda, in real life.. yet when we remake them, we very often make it a straight line.. from the cuisse down th...

Thank you all. I will try to post some, how I did things as well. Here is the effigy(s) I combined to give myself a reference of the look I'm going for. The vambraces, I have decided will not be the scale versions but will match the cuisses. http://www.globaleffects.com/Temp/effigy.jpg

All of the effigies I looked at from this period have the mail very neat an orderly around the ankle as well as the entire leg. My experience seems to indicate that unsupported mail doesn’t behave in a way the effigies and artwork of the period seem to depict. Mail supported by a foundation (cloth...

I had a butted mail hauberk by, um 1981 I think. Wore it for a number of years but the weight (36lbs) really messed with the 2 herniated disks in my back. If could afford the nice superlight mail available today, I'd go back to it just for the look. The only negative I remember is when it got down ...

The word "decimate" when used to mean slaughter, massacre, or the simple and accurate "kill all of them". I see supposedly well-educated historians misuse it at almost every turn. Stop it! It's a fine word when used for what it means, please stop turning it into a buzz-word. Yes...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We're all rebels in my family, so we're not having turkey. We're having organic, naturally fed bison. But not the entire bison. With respect, -Aaron Dam and I thought our oven was big! or with a crane do you drop the Bison in to a dumpster filled with boiling oil?

I realized I may not have been completely clear in my reasons for wanting an area for open critique by an experienced person. Context.
Understanding and seeing the level of work in the real world, verses our little corner of it.
Here is an example of what is going on in other places.
