This is how we do casts for film costume work. You can mix the alginate very "thin" by dental standards and there is no real need to lubricate the arm, as the alginate will not stick. For legs, I build a “bootâ€

All of the effigies I looked at from this period have the mail very neat an orderly around the ankle as well as the entire leg. I had a butted mail hauberk by, um 1981 I think. Wore it for a number of years but the weight (36lbs) really messed with the 2 herniated disks in my back.
