All due respect though, this tourney has a strong tradition as is, and is closely tied not only to Atlantian culture, but the Ebonwoulfe household in particular. The Speed tourney format works really well for this type of tourney. While some don't like it, and some do, I don't believe for a second ...

How about an "An-Tir" squires tourney format? They are great fun, lots of fighting for all and allow squires with different goals to participate for the entire tourney at the level they desire. Throw your squires into a large list field. Whatever knights would like to fight can do so. Set ...

"I would argue it's better than the steel groups since we can do a lot of things they can't. Mostly they just swing the edges of their swords at one another (and most use even more limited targeting), but we can do halfswording, just as one example, because our weapon simulators are safer.&quo...

Too bad. My plastic shield has lasted for years and years. Weighs more than almost all aluminium shield I've ever lifted. The only reason we use them is they never, never have to be rebuilt. No advantage in combat at all. As a matter of fact I have in the past built "disposable" plywood sh...

That is why I love war in the SCA, the anvil upon which heroes are forged. An arrow does not a hero make. Do you honestly believe that by throwing on some armour and hitting folks with rattan that you are a Hero? If so then you really might want to seek some proffesional help. Fergus, there are a g...

***snippage of very good points*** Fighter B is hanging himself and doesn't need me to point it out. I would actually prefer just to make sure that he had enough rope to do it well. More marshalls should adopt this viewpoint. Hrogn for SEM! (ducks and runs odging the bullets/daggers sure to follow)

The jury is still out on the regards as to rather or not maille is sufficient to protect one from bowfire. If 14th century transitional harnesses can be penetrated, then mail is probably less protective. However, as an outsiderto the SCA, I'm a bit unknowing in regards to CA's current rules. But I ...

Yup. Slight variation though, mine is more a moulinet to the onside head. More successful is a face thrust/leg shot. When I'm throwing well, these two combos are interchangable.

Last night I spent a couple hours working on magic tricks with my youngest son while turning down a glass of the best rum in my liqour cabinet. I am surprised how saddened I am by this.

Anyone want to go $300 for these?

The top twenty cards in the list are worth around $500.00

Add in the next twenty or so and the total rises to around $800.00

I still think you're judging according to modern idiosyncratic notions of chivalry, and not in the "what chivalry meant in period" terms that Rhys sees this issue in. OK, that may be so, but are there not books of chivalry written by knights and for knights, and written in period, that define the w...
