Ewan... your shield description sounds like something i should try... i fight with a heather too... and i just normally hold it in the vertical position... perhaps i should move my handle so i could easier hold my shield like you say... Look at the video for Duke Thorin @ www.antirfighters.com for ...

I don't know if it is a "belatrix" thing or not. It is a Duke Thorin Njalsson thing. Ewan, Yes, it is. Thorin, when he was a squire, and his knight took lessons from me. Whenever he's around when I'm teaching, he helps out. Here's a suggestion for a stretch for your trapezius: 1. Stand against a wa...

sorry dante Doug, I don't think anyone here has stated that SCA is more "period" than "period combat".

I doubt that someone with HG Cuans reputation would actually do something like that, though. The man knows what he could do.

I think this has turned into an SCA vs. WMA war that really isn't necessary. No one is saying SCA isn't valid or that you can't hurt people with it, just that it is different from WMA and period combat as we understand it. I agree completley Doug. Both are important and valuable. Your opening state...

Maces, warhammers espescially would translate into very poor weapons indeed, if we are concerned only with cutti...

Gawd, I love this game.

Had a great practice tonight. Went with predominatly "Duke Paul" style like I had been doing before I quit. Remembered to look over the back of my shield not the front and things went muuuuuuccccccchhhhh better.

My trapezoid hurts like a S.O.B. though.

Look up the lost vikings, pretty much everyone of them uses this style of hidden armour.
