Here you go Odo. We had the pleasure of fighting next to both Sir Richard and Sir Robert. They were at the edge of the Saxon center and we held the edge of the Saxon left.

Hastings 2006

Greetings all. Just got back from Old Blighty. Like a few of you out there myself and my friend Ricky, known here as Uric Blackoak, went over for the Hastings reenactment. http://thumb13.webshots.net/t/14/14/8/51/73/2543851730048832893HhKkoO_th.jpg It seems only fare to post some pics now for those ...

Blaine, I don't believe the weight of the shirt help in the protection it offered. If anything, a heavier shirt (especially a butted one) is a detriment to itself as it tends to pull itself apart over time. One thing the heavier shirt did do was flair out when I turned or twisted. As a result an opp...

I have pretty much always fought in a chain hauberk. My 1st weighed in at 35lbs. I now wear one of Forthcastle Arms flat ring, rivited hauberks weighing about 16lbs and I have one two coronet lists in it. It's not the best protection for our game but its what my persona would have worn I love the lo...

Bayeaux Tap

Sceot,

Check the Bayeaux Tapestry rolls. They have a list of all of the Normans who went with William. Mix and match your favorites from there for a Normand but be careful to choose the correct region or you might end up Flemish and we all know how reliable they are ;)

Norman invasion of Ireland

Saverio, That is indeed my persona. My persona went over to Ireland in 1169/70 with Richard fitz Gilbert de Clare to fight for Dermot MacMurchada to regain his kingdom. Depending on which aspect you choose to recreate will determin how difficult your kit will be. If you're portraying a Norman than m...

I've been following Museum Reps since they started. I think I still have catalog #2. Back then they carried Del Tin pieces and they were well worth dealing with. Oswyn, My SCA persona starts around 1167-9 between the 2nd and 3rd crusade and centers around the Norman invasion of Ireland. It seems to be a little know piece of history but I've found it to be quite facinating and far from the 'main stream' crusader era persona. My persona is that of a Marcher lo...

Pelagius, I wear the bazubands because they are easy to hide under a tunic and do not bind or hinder arm movement. However, you do need to remember you will be wearing them when you make your tunic otherwise you will not be able to bend your arm at all if the sleeve is too snug at the elbow. Sir Ken...

I have never had a problem with Beathan either and have placed many orders with him. My latest order is running very late so this thread has raised my interest but Beathan conta...

Some of their kit can be very detailed. Many focus heavily on the Slavic and Eastern Viking/Rus side and their can be alot of mix and match.
