Brent, if you were suggesting I had an idea for a site out here, unfortunately I really don't. Events like this are best on private land and those places are the best but hardest to find unless you know the owner already. Can't offer any ideas there, sadly. Not even so much a site but where decent ...

I know you don't care much if it conflicts with an SCA date but about half of those listed are in the SCA and in that part of the country is Estrella War February 9th – February 16th 2009. It certainly won't help to be on that week or probably the week before or week after. Jeff grew up in the are...

The complete five-volume paperback set: ISBN 0-8122-1737-3 1744 pages $135.00 Whew, there's some serious scholarship there, for sure. I'm not sure if the "Whew" was a reaction to the price but mine was that's a pretty good deal. Law codes like that and similar documents scholars can spend...

That's one portable persona. I've got the staff, can draw up traveling papers for passage on parchment &. I'd be good to go ( & John would have to house and feed me as pilgrim... it would be his 14th century Christian duty to do so... hehehe [img]http://www.mediumaevum.com/brent/12thnight/1...

If you want all those things and horses you will be looking for a site that you will need insurance for or you will need to rent something like a 1,000 gallon water trailer. Or half that if you can find ready access to refill it half way through. You will also want to aim for a reasonable distance f...

70lb is almost certainly too heavy. When I did my first one I think I went with a 60lb then I went down some to like a 32lb, then I flipped through the pages of an actual Caxton and I went to a 24 or 20lb depending on what I could find.

I am well aware that darn near every single 'joust' that one can find is very likely stage combat on horses. This is clearly an exception, and as I understand it from some posts on the archive, there are others in the US as well. So... is there any place someone can go to find 'real' jousting event...

I am still not sure why more events don't just offer bottled water to everyone. Bottled water is inexpensive (especially when bought in bulk), and I am sure if someone did their budget well, it would not realistically alter the costs for an event, or add significntly to the gate fee. Atleast in som...

I will say that it does make the horses pretty bomb proof about a lot of things! If I recall correctly being bomb proof was never one of Petrus's weak points, I seem to recall sitting on his back when a nice size ACW cannon went off. Didn't even startle. I think he was standing there going "I'...

The book being written in English follows the same reasons as Henry's book. Until Richard's time it was not considered how one wrote a book for that level of society. Once more has little to do with his ability to read or not read English as well as French but literary tradition and changes in it. ...
