Mint records as in the coining of money? Interesting I'd never thought of paying much attention to that.

There are likely more then you think as that tends to be the case every time such questions come up but like many times and places, if you don't read the language you will end up doing a piss poor job and why do something poorly.

Well a bargrill is what it is....not period for all but late period tourney helms and a possible freak bargrill depiction in the 14th century....that is still debatable. Actually I believe the handful of various bargrill like things on helms are mostly 15th century. Sometimes on bascinets of an old...

Actually a large portion of the old PRO records in the National Archive you can search using their search engine. But it only tells you that they are referenced in the document and sometimes not even that. Some things you still have to do the old way. Although someone digitized I think the patent ro...

What are you researching? These are better to use a library. I'm dealing with a small English towns involvement in military activities in the mid-15th century about 1429-1483. So I have to look at a bunch of indexes to calendars of government documents and reports on manuscripts and archives. It ca...

Real men don't wear tights they wear hosen. The problem with sweat pants is easily overcome if you want something simple. Firstly buy sweat pants that fit instead of baggy like we tend to wear them today. Secondly take the elastic out of the hem at the ankles and put a stirup on them. If they are st...

And yes I do know about everything.

Well according to the rules it should be 1/2" instead of 1/4" that is one of the reasons why I quoted the rules from the handbook.

I know people sell them as legal and when I made mine I thought it was legal but a marshal at a practice told me it wasn't, although let me fight and then I checked and it would appear they do not meet the requirement. Any Marshals out there want to chime in on this. The SCA Marshall's Handbook say....

Re: Civilian-style garments over armour in 15th century Ital

I seek period representations--manuscript illustrations, tapestry images, sculptures--of any sort of textile garments, especially long, fancy civilian-style gowns or coats, worn over plate armour in later 15th century Italy. I guess I shouldn't restrict my search to Italy. I'll take any images I ca...
