Re: Please post your favorite Raising tips here
Hi guys, Ive been working on my raising skill lately. I was wondering if anyone had any basic tips to raise a simple dome shape? What kind of tongs do you use to hold the sheet metal? I've only done it a couple of times (I'm pretty much a newb), but here's what worked for me. Buy an actual raising ...

All of the tools I've bought from Ironmonger have the three letter mark on them. Not the anvil though.

Much in the same way the SCA was originally a Tolkien appreciation society. That was the start - then it very quickly grew into something different. It's the same with the Tuchux. At least as far as my understanding of it goes, anyways.

Not so!
McMaster Carr has silicon carbide angle grinder flap discs out to 600 grit.
Here's a link.
Enjoy!

It's a fine Spring day, and I am working on a new bending jig for roof rings ( tunduk - the Kyrgyz word) myself. Ooo! Hardcore. I'd love to do steam bending to get the poles into the right shape, make authentic rings, etc. My yurts are (I'm told) really more of a ger than a yurt because of all the ...

Thanks for the input everyone - #2 it is then. I may figure out a way to fiddle with the pattern to place the seam in the exact center - that's what I'd really like to do. We'll see how that goes. Are you doing this as a one-piece or two (roof and wall seperate)? Two piece. The roof cap will hang ov...

Yurt canvas - aesthetics question about seams
Which looks better to you? Sewing the wall canvas in vertical stripes, or having one long seam that would be slightly off center? http://home.roadrunner.com/~akroyurt/images/yurtseam.jpg I'm kicking around patterning ideas and I wanted to know what everyone thinks? Neither of these are final just ye...

In boffer there are people who dislike archery probably as much as those in the SCA who dislike it. Perhaps it just seems strange to me, coming from a boffer perspective, to judge whether or not an arrow hit with sufficient force to not take the hit. I'm used to taking a hit from an arrow if the pa...

Re: What's the Deal with Combat Archery, ect?
I sometimes get the feeling that the organization is run by the elites of the royalty, and that those elites have a general idea of what they want the SCA to be and at times may limit the amount of personal freedom on and off the field. If I'm wrong, explain it to me. I'll explain it but you'll hav...

Re: Sanding attachments for angle grinders
Are there any attachments for angle grinders that would allow me to use higher grits than 120? I use flap wheels and resin fibre discs but I cannot find those in higher than 120 grit. McMaster Carr carries angle grinder flap discs in grits out to 600. m In case that doesn't work, head to www.mcmast...

No one does such stupid things. I apologize for the derail, but I have to jump in here a sec. McDonalds had it coming to them.
