Sanding disc question
Ok - I'm sure this is a really really dumb question. But I'm going to ask anyways. Not the first time from me, right? In this thread I was asking about what sander Eric Dube is using, what the discs are, etc. So I go out and buy a similar sander. So far, so good. The discs though. They are a problem...

I had a blast. I'm sitting in my cube right now, still sore with bruises up and down me. Still grinning. I only wish we'd have fought another bridge battle, darn it! I loves me some res battles. PS: Thanks for the invite Nissan, and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to stop by your camp and hang out. ...

I've spent most of the day thinking about this, and figured I'd post my opinion. In the interests of full disclosure, I'm a near-nobody in the SCA politics-wise. But I have had some similar experience in other areas. Anyways, in an earlier part of my life a long time ago, I was once in a similar pos...

Fantastic job. You should type this up as an essay and submit it to the AA essays area. Seriously - what you've got there is inspiring. You have the right amount of pictures, and it would be something we could point people towards who need it. You took ugly non-period looking plastic armour and mad...

I'm an amateur, so please take my comments with a grain of salt. Gauntlets - best work you've shown. Your cuff is particularly nice. The articulation around the fingers is a bit gapped, but still very good. I doubt I could do better. Helm - nice shape. You should finish the face with some boughing a...

Midrealm authorization procedure?
Can anyone point the way to it? What can a newbie trying to authorize in the Midrealm expect?
I've poked around the Midrealm website looking for it and I'm just not having any luck finding it.

Really, really fast! Google maps says you're 2 hours away. That means to make it in an hour I'd have to drive at about 130mph! Two guys with a trunk full of armour doing 130 in a Prius. Thanks for the invite though. I just don't think I could manage it with a four hour round trip time. IIRC, someone...

Fighter practices near Akron, OH?
There's always the Cleftlands, but what do you do when it's the last week of the month and there's no practice? Or if your new son keeps you up until 4am every lousy Tuesday night like clockwork and you're so tired on Wednesday you can hardly stand, let alone fight? Plus, I've got a newbie. He needs...

Thanks everyone. Bout how long did it take you to do that? All told, maybe 7 or 8 hours. I work slow and my torch solution takes too much time to heat up the piece. Two hours of that was me fiddling around polishing it with my angle grinder and flap discs. 120 then 240 then 320 then 400. Most of the...

Knee cop raising - picture heavy. Comments welcome
Ok, this is my fourth attempt. I widened Sinric's pattern because I kept cracking the cop where it starts turning into fan. Seems to have worked! All I had to do was cut off the extra bit once I got the raising done. This is the first one I've completed that I like. The fan shape is off, but I had a...

My head cannot turn per se since the helmet is bascially locked to the cuirass but I have some movement inside the hat. It feels quite protective! I seem to recall a few posts that may have been lost in the Great Purge about people who need this kind of rigidity due to previous neck injuries. This ...

If you ever want to stop by the shop and do some work let me know. I can show you how this works and answer any other questions you may have about the fluting/planishing /raising process. Notice that the crease is deep and has a inward curve at the outside that decreases as it moves inwards to the body of the cop. Thanks. Yeah, I thought it might be something like that. So what I did was hammer a crease in (which I messed up - it looks bad) but it is shaped nearly correct. It's not ...

I'm just not seeing it. Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at? I'm working on Sinric's 15th cent. legs. Pattern here. It's the pictures...I just can't tell the shape of the fan. Here's what I'm seeing. So in this pic: http://www.armourarchive.org/patterns/legs_15thC_sinric/images/leg_15thC_back.jpg...

There are some new methods which result in much faster fermenting, better tasting, and better smelling meads (floral nose = awesome!). One of the primary new methods is Staggered Nutrient Additions, which help speed up fermentation by an order of magnitude. Check out <A HREF="http://home.comcast.ne...
