AFAIK healers in Dagorhir are scenario-based and not often used. I have been to a coupla dozen batttles in the last 7 years and never saw healers. Orks and pixies etc yes, healers nope, spellcasting nope. Just a giant boffer batttle. I like the archery. Perhaps we should be sure and try some Dagiorh...

My goal for 2009 is to finish my tudor joust suit. My heavy stainless helmet from Steel Mastery is almost ready: to go with this panoply: http://www.anglesey.org/images/trystan.may2007.jpg which also needs the brayette (pelvis) finished, which...

I may just have to wait until I can build up more cash. Wait. Many of the most seasoned warriors around this site will tell you to wait. Your hands are vital and so deserve the best protection you can give them. Build up your cash a bit more and your fingers will thank you for having patience. Bein...

Without any disrespect to anyone, it should be realized that some of our competitors are considered 'B' string jousters. They've been playing in the minor leagues of jousting, and this was their opportunity to step up to the majors. Jeff [Hedgecock] and Luke both went through this stage, and now th...

You need to get the book Tudor and Jacobean Tournaments by Alan Young. Seconded. It has good images and goes into significant detail about the later-period stuff that most age-of-chivalry afficianados tend to ignore. Thirded. This is one of the best book purchases I may have ever made. Don't leave ...

http://www.therionarms.com/pictures/gunner1.jpg I have a question about those sabatons. I don't think that those would be practical for infantry? IIRC, the pointy toes are to let you more easily signal the horse to set and change gait leads? This dude would trip and fall every time those toe...

Most, if not all, of the Tarn Clan of Tuchux came from Dagorhir. Now if he says they are gay too...then I got nothin'. I don't play much Dag any more but I do stay in touch with the innumerable friends I have made there over the last 27+ years. Here's a hattrick of SCA Knights not mentioned yet who ...

This one is my favorite. Pennsic, 2003, field battle. I'm out there somewhere. My wife took this pic. Large, but that's part of what makes it great. My friends and I are the ones in attacking the troops in the foreground (we're wearing green/plaid and facing the camera). I am on the far right. Than...

Oh no, The heartfelt gift of an arrow to show the affection of mercenary comabat archers would have entertainment value all its own. I grok that in it's entirety. Duly noted. Because Sir Vitus killed me, I gave him the prize of the playing card with his device on it that I hand out to my men. Did h...

Sounds like a quest of the highest calibre to me. Like King Pellinore and his Questing Beast in those wonderful T.H. White books. I suggest that missile weapons be disallowed. One should come to grips directly with this particular boar for it to be worthwhile. I predict it will become even more diff...

From time to time in the battles, I found myself squinting through the dust and turmoil to find out who that other unit was, the one having as much success and puissance as us ...and more than once it was NorthClovenShield. The Kindness of Baltizar of Darkyard
During the 2nd field battle at Pennsic, I was involved in a fairly brutal flank-counterflank engagement against the back of the left center of the red army (I was on the blue team). Our flanker group became encircled and were fighting desperately. As I was trying to back out of the now untenable sit...
