I don't know -- I think as explained, by "a outrance" they simply mean with grapling and so forth. Theoretically, it is doable. Kevin, At least round here (East), draw cuts (including push and pull) and tip cuts are fully legal and expected in "rapier". The only cut not allowed is the "saber type" "slash". Tip cuts are not required to be acknowledged here, so it doesn't matter what it feels like. Yeah, but the Shlagger was DESIGNED for tip cuts! Its whole raison-d-etre is tip cuts! If it's the Celtic guys at the top of the page, far as I know - those shields have no strapping -- just an inline bar handle like the ROman shields. Thanks guys. Having briefly looked at the West's rules, I'd guess at two possible complaints -- 1) No Melees That really sucks! Melees are great fun! 2) No epee No problem by me, but I'd imagine some folks may want the option. Course, here in the East I have the opposite complaint -- standard weapon...
