Re: Online Intro to I.33 sword and buckler

I'm going to pull the video recording of this presentation off YouTube later this week. The point of this exercise was to get a bunch of people participating in an online martial studies presentation, not to create a permanent record of my embarrassing myself. :) I have enough of those. I'll re-pre...

It sucks that anyone was put at risk. It should not have happened. This has been and will be a Marshal training issue combined with a personal responsiblity to maintain the gear that comes in contact with the opponent. Not sure how the wielder of the spear escaped two years of discussion on them. We...

I would email Robert MacPherson and see if you could get a letter of provenance for the helm from him. That might increase the value of the helm, as he is a world-renown armourer. Steve It would be great to hear from him when he made it and his thoughts about it but I would suggest the makers mark ...

I also didn't know about the cooling effect. It's sounding more and more like the long-term solution. So when it is said that it takes a big compressor, how big are we talking about? I've been considering getting one for a while, but was never really sure what size we had in Gregory's shop. Seconde...

Re: What's everyone using to grind awkward shapes?

I have a pneumatic 90* Die Grinder I use for small stuff. Grinding wheels, Carbide tips. I have an adapter that lets me use 4.5" cutting disks when they are too small for the 4.5 Dewalt. It is an Ingersol Rand and has been a champ mainly because I religiously oil it every time I use it. Only problem...

This was turning out the flange on a "soupcan" cop. the edge of the anvil really chewed up the piece if I didn't have the corner of the anvil right in the crease, which of course you can't see while you are pounding on the opposite side of the metal. I guess you just have to get a feel for it. Stev...

Re: How do you keep from chewing up your fold line?

Practice and hammer control. You can protect it but it is better to learn how to hit where you want on the metal. Also clean up the area under the roll just before doing the final closing pass. That is the time for cleaning up the edge of the roll as well. A lot of people forget that part and hammer...
