Re: Auction - Lance head
Much better pic! Now you can see the crispness of the edges on the tip. If you still don't get takers do an after shot of it driven through a piece of 12 ga! 1060 should do that just fine.

Re: Failed project auction - Lance head
I'm not interested in buying this piece but I will throw my opinion in for free. ;) I'd say it is an advertising issue. "Failed" is the first word people see. So some of the clicks on this thread are to see the potential train wreck inside. It looks nice from what I can see. Its not a great pic. The...

Re: Review needed: schmeneter/schmitthenner armory
A very angry and scathing review was posted on one of my facebook groups today about them. (Well, he said schmeneter, but schmitthenner is what came up in google) I've looked at the schmitthenner website, and it seems to be quite expensive (for some items), and filled with a mix of SCA, Larp, and w...

Re: Rivets pulling through
I prefer leather like Wade but if you MUST use nylon strapping on armour I have found it holds up best if you use a awl or icepick to poke your way though the nylon, around the threads rather than cutting them in any way. I say that even thought I have a soldering iron set up to melt through plastic...

I don't blame people for their mundanitys but I do try to lead by example. I used to wear sunglasses. I was fortunately able to train my eyes to not need them as long as I have a good period hat. Now I dont even wear them at home. They are just one more thing to get lost, stolen, or broken. I wear g...

Re: Does SCA still allow a 15/16 gauge helm? if spring steel
A friend of mine had a spring 16g bascient made by a top tier armourer. He took one hit in it and gave it back. Not enough mass for stick combat. I fought in 16g mild steel helms (dished, with no aventail) for years while living in An Tir, one of the SCA's hardest hitting kingdoms. I never had an i...

I cannot reccomend Thompsons waterseal to waterproof non waterproof canvas. Smelly. Changes the canvas to an oily dark color and not all that effective. We have a different tent now

The braces are "2x2" (ie. 1 1/2" square) so they should not try to roll. If I find that they bend to much in the full scale, I would go to 2x4, and then I would need to find some way to keep them from rolling. Ack! How did I miss that? My brain said 1x2. Not sure why. Carry on... The table l...

Somone's going to like having a place to hang garb up, if those braces can handle a little extra weight. Oh shut, now I gave you a logical explanation as to why you have to make garb for the Joe. As long as the braces dont want to roll when weigh is applied. They may want to turn so that the...

What was this hammer used for?
A friend gave me this hammer a while ago and I am thinking about modifying it for armouring. I've never seen one like it. Before I do I thought it would be a good idea to try and figure out what it was used for. Just in case it would be handier for its original purpose. I think it is for hot work. I...

I hope the court agrees. If two people pattern off of the same Burgonet in a museum they are not stealing the others design to do so.
