Might not need a strap. Just have to rotate the helm (on an horizontal axis) to get it on and off without dragging it on the nose.

I would have directly asked "What rule has been violated?" And then argued the judgment of IF that rule was actually violated. That would be (and has been) my approach with marshals. There are some that see something they do not like or a scared by and legislate from the staff as it were....

I've been drinking out of my costrel for about a week now. The pitch and wax taste is not very strong at all. Michael does a great job on his stitching and forming. These are a really good product.

As Leo mentioned Hobnails are a liability on modern surfaces. Turn into rollerskates on asphalt. They are great on the dry grass at Pennsic though! I do not like cleats. Don't forget that the back of the hand is segmented on Wisby patterns. No personal experience here but that might be a concern to some. I'll be they are great for spear with the extra flexibility there. Great sword might be a different story. Hopefully someone who actually has a pair will chime in.

Can you give us a period and the style of legs you are getting so we have something to base our opinions on? :lol:

If it is just safety equipment then a leather molded greave can dissapear into the rest of the kit if detailed right. The pattern our household uses covers 3/4 of the leg or so.
