I put my hands on the one I have left over from my C&T project. It is complete but won't win any beauty contests. I think it was used as a parrying device and there are a few chips and scuffs in the paint. The core is solid. I have no idea what it is worth. I'll ship it to you on my dime if you are ...

Getting there Myron. You are learning a bunch with this project! You will be much happier with the more vertical fronts of the arm holes on the Breast even if you had to go back on completed work. Getting better volume in the back where the scapula are would help a bit too, as we talked, but your ma...

Interesting discourse gentlemen! It's heartening to hear that HEMA is as diverse as you describe. Human nature tends to make people adopt "uniforms" that help identify a person as a group so there is no surprise that within HEMA there are differences in what folks choose to wear as protection. Re: Has anyone tried making HEMA style hand protection?

No, they can`t. They`re lighter and that`s about it. But some fighting schools, at least here in germany, won`t allow metal armour. I guess the main reason they exist is that they are light and cheap. Fought against someone with a longsword and a pair of the top style. They seemed to be protective ...

It's a pity Giannis's arrows aren't quite a bit shorter and his bows made with that in mind, as the typical 28" standard draw we use these days and the accompanying arrows are obviously far longer than anything the Greeks used based on contemporary depictions. -Gerhard That is the only thing that s...

It's pretty clear that the central channel is glued to the curved side pieces, but at this resolution we can't tell much more. I preface this by saying I do not know your body type, but I had issues transitioning the solid metal gorget to use with cut and thrust. No criticism of any type of armour is valid unless it is made accurately and fitted properly. This is rare for plate gorgets, however. They are subtle, and for mo...

For what it's worth, I don't think gorgets would be worn without any other armor in real life scenarios. They're a popular motif in artwork on military men, but I think it'd be unusual. Secondarily, that fellow smacks much more of the end of the first quarter of the 17th century than anything else ...

Using it is the best way to get honest wear on armour. ;) Haven't seen the movie but it looks like that suit may be blued. You could use a commercially available cold gun bluing solution and then scuff it with a scotchbrite pad. Spray it with a salt solution, let it pit a little then oil it and scuff.
