Personally, my biggest beef with delayed orders is the lack of communication. If I'm kept up to date on the situation, and my emails are responded to semi-promptly, I'm 500% more understanding than if I'm ignored and weeks go by without a response. If they're communicating well, I'd give em a break.

Brutal... as far as the flash goes, you could obviously cover it.

Or you could use some indirect light, something like that, use some white paper to angle the flash onto a place where it might bounce.

Soften it a bit etc.
