Okay, back in the world of the living. I have taken the great helm, finger gauntlets, and soupcan knees/elbows off the listing as I need something to do my educational presentations with. Will be placing more armour, leather, and everything else listed up soon. Will be contacting everyone that PMd o...

Hi Matt, I would prefer to sell my full kit as a set, but (as the prices indicate) I am willing to "break it up" and sell it per piece. As for garb - I have 2 wool, completely handstiched and embroidered coptic tunics; 2 pairs of 16th century breeches (blue satin and velvet) for a very large person;...

Their claim just now is that, even if an arrow fails to penetrate armour, it would inflict enough blunt trauma to kill or incapacitate the wearer. I'm not sure I believe this one. This is distressing. I am planning on having my harness hardened somehow. I might even sell it and commission a better ...

Dev, Personally, I don't think that I would go lighter than 16ga spring for a breastplate - I put a tremendous dent in Cassandra's 14ga SS (and more than a few put into mine, when I wore SS) with an IJA style lance and a scored balsa tip (we scored them, but they sure didn't break). Shane caved my p...

We have hit a mild steel, 16ga breastplate with a bodkin-tipped arrow from a 65lb draw bow dead on without penetration. I think that a spring steel breastplate of the same thickness would most probably be able to take a shot from the Mary Rose bow without piercing. Mike Loades did a progam on this s...

Well, back in the day at the Bristol Faire ('99) we used 2" diameter x 2' oak dowels that we shaped for our horseback bastons. We bought a 12' section of oak handrail at the lumber yard and faceted them. Hits like a freight train, but except for a couple of guys getting knocked out, no one was injur...

Thorfinn, I have ordered numerous pieces of armour from Beathan the last few years and have never had a tracking number (its kind of like shipping USPS out of the country, you can track it until it leaves their custody). It is interesting that they went from round/conical to flat topped, then back to round-conical again, (round/conical offereing a better glancing surface) Maybe someone figured it helped to have more space between your head and the inside of the helm. -Justus I have often wondered if the change was ...

It says sell or trade, what are you looking for in trade? We (Murdock, LWCM, and I) need longswords for WMA practice (just like the AEMMA does) and before too long single hand swords for I.33. Let me know what you have left Friday and I'll take the list to my WMA class on Saturday morning. Also, wil...
