You shave your thoroughbred? John Only in the winter... When I was the joust director at the Bristol Renaissance Faire, I was convinced to buy a thoroughbred to use in the show. I rode him a couple of times in practice and then passed him off to Gruber (who loved him for some, undefinable reason). ...

...guys who late in life, bought these really snazzy thoroughbred jousting horses and VERY shiny armor? Thoroughbred jousting horses?? I wouldn't be caught dead jousting on a thoroughbred. Of course if I jousted on a thoroughbred, it'd -probably- kill me . They're psycho, dontcha know... not terrib...

I've been buying from Beathan for a couple of years now and have never heard of him selling on Ebay. All of his armour is custom sized to the buyer, not off the peg. I agree that you are probably thinking of Armstreet. As for contacting Beathan, try PMing here on the Archive. I know that his email s...

Hey Gwen, Headwear - Great idea. Some pilleus (pillbox) hats would be great! While I think the idea of kid's clothes is great, the downside to it (and the reason I doubt that we would ever buy anything for Sarah) is that they grow out of them too fast. I expect my Bockstein tunic to last me years - ...

Don't forget that Jeff and I are medieval dress up people too, and all of our bases are covered by what we offer (except for Napoleonic, because Jeff really, really wants to be a Hussar...but that's another story) Oh, great Jeff has been looking at Rod's site again...will this garb war never cease?...

OK, so we've got requests for Anglo Saxon (as opposed to Viking) and Coptic woven to shape tunics (are those linen or cotton?). Gwen Wool (summer and winter weight, please!) and/or linen. Wow, it is May already and haven't run a single joust pass...I don't miss it, really, I don't...not at all..nuh...

One of the main "small details" is the acquisition of either "dolphin" or "horsehead" bronze buckles, belt tips, and "propeller" belt fittings. A little goes a long way in making your kit more historically accurate. I just wish that Raymond would do more 5th century Romano-British items, however, Me...

Hi Keval, Many people on the Archive are extremely reluctant to do business with an "unknown" armourer, especially from Eastern Europe. This is because of a couple of unscrupulous individuals that took large orders for armour, took the money, and never delievered the armour. Thus, making it harder f...

But, I agree the maille is wrong and it was dated to the mid-9th century, for a migration period helm, Mercenary Tailor has a nice one.

I have a pair of green, size 11 Revival 14th Century Riding Boots up for sale. They have only been worn about 4 times, however, the bottom-most buckle on the left boot came off when the leather strap that it is attached with broke (I have it and will include it - I have been told by a cobbler that i...

Beathan is continually having problems with his service provider, which I think has to do with it being located in the Ukraine. Believe me, Beathan would let all of us know if he was going out of business. He is one armourer that I have ALWAYS found to be truthful, honest, upfront, and dependable. (...
