You might also try oxbowbooks.com - as they have a tremendous selection of historical books for sale at extremely low prices (got a number of my Graduate school texts there for way less than what they were being sold elsewhere). Try these links: Islamic World ; Crusaders ; or Medieval World Overview...

Oh no, he who must not be named...
I haven't used his gear, but I know that it didn't have the best reputation in the jousting community.

I'ved used pretty much every type of jousting shield out there (started jousting in '81) and have experience with both the HE shield and 12ga stainless (set up as a bolted on grande gard and a 12ga mild shield by Age of Armour). I want to throw in one more name - Vitus. Vitus sent me a couple of his...

I am also putting coat after coat of epoxy on 15 different shields. I cannot recommend Vitus' ecranche shields for jousting (SCA, Balsa, or even Heavy Armour styles), these things are nearly indestructable. If you are even giving the tiniest thought to jousting - get one of these TODAY! http://i237...

Jeff will be 48 in 2 weeks. He started jousting when he was 40, but he had been riding for 20 years before that. 2 weeks ago he was kicking butt and taking names- http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs700.snc4/62071_471313301207_593316207_7174266_7420626_n.jpg He intends to do it all over a...

No disagreement about head carriage (I have had to aim around Valour's nogging on many occassions) . While I have, over the past 12 years or so, jousted predominately on Drafts and Draft/Crosses - since I started jousting back in 1981, I have also jousted on QH and Thoroughbreds, (some right off the...

I prefer draft crosses (especially Percheron/QH), but have spent plenty of time of pure drafts. I like them mostly because of their good nature, character and willingness to work with you. Most are like big puppies and I have a great picture of my daughter, who was 3 at the time, walking across the ...

I know that much of the armor in knight's tale is 15th and 16th century stuff, but are you sure that the story line is that late? The characters; Geoffry Chaucer and the Black Prince were 14th century persons of note and from what I've read the story is based in 1370 (despite all that is to the con...
