Sure we do. In medieval Spanish and Portuguese heraldry, bordures with text (usually part of the Ave Maria) are a common motif. Any fool can plainly see that none of this - Spanish, Portuguese or religious text - has anything to do with this proposed device. One wonders, therefore, why you brought ...

I was going to mention shoes, but forbore to comment because of the intent of the ensemble. While shoes are "mo betta", boots will hide things like soccer shin-guards; cut hose will do little in that regard. Boots will also cover any bits of leg harness which peek out from the knee-bands o...

Blade length 43"
Total hilts length 8", including pommel

It's a bit longer than Swetnam specifies (four feet). Fabris and the other Italian masters call for a longer blade than the English. It's been working out fine for me.

go with Icefalcon on this one if you can. The only thing I do NOT like about them, is there is no place to tie spaulders/shoulder armor to. I am not sure how I am gonna get around that unless I sew in grommets myself. Which I have no skill in doing. You can sew laces directly to the garment. These ...

do you think they would have been in use in '95 or so? if so what would it look like? It's impossible to say. As Saritor pointed out, one can find what appear to be precursors quite early in C16. There is, however, argument as to whether or not the garment in question is armour or just an outer lay...
