They didn't do long sleeves? That's not entirely accurate; there are extant examples with long sleeves, including one in the collection of the V&A.

Looks like an attempt at late 15th-century Italian to me.

Our RH509 - Florentine Woman's Outfit - will make that look.

Logos, I'm making a concerted effort to get my authorization in rapier and C&T at an Eastern event in July. I need an approved blade - the Canelure currently installed in my Elizabethan hilts is too stiff and heavy - and something to protect the back of my head. I've got everything else. I'm pic...

Lilies is still my favorite event. I agree, Derian. I've got three. In fact, I've worn one of mine as the liner to a pikeman's pot. It fit so well I didn't need to do up the chinstrap; I can shake my head from side to side and the durned thing petulantly refused to fall off! Nowadays I wear mine all the time in the winter, including ...

Tracy is right. Jennifer Carlson, in her excellent article , notes: Some sources claim brown was the predominant color, but at least one record of red Monmouth caps does exist. D'oh! Edited to correct. ops Excellent point about my Mortuary hilt. Like you say, it's not a heavy sword at all! It's just that I don't trust it against anything less ... er ... terrifying. If my much lighter, shorter pikeman's tuck chews through lesser blades, I'm rather spooked as to what the mor...

Agreed! Lacing strips for pointing the doublet to the breeches makes a HUGE amount of difference! You just don't have to worry about your breeches falling down, or having a tight, constricting belt (or waist band) around your belly to hold them up. (Or being a total Farb and using braces/suspenders...
