New Thesis Source
Fellow seekers: Sorry if this is old news. I'm excited! I just found out about a new source for UK theses. m has heaps of digitized theses on any number of subjects, with more coming online daily. Just dithering about, I discovered a thesis called "Knightly armour in England in the age of the b...

Bob, that's unfortunate. I was hoping you'd have some of the Elizabethan green and blackware pottery back again this year. If you have anything left, I'd love to take a look at it, especially a porringer or something. What do you have? Unfortunately, nothing like that. While I've got some of the gr...

Can you divulge any rough costs, or is that proprietary? tax refund season is coming No, it's not proprietary; it's just complicated. There's a lot goes into making an historical garment, all of which impacts the final price. Materials, embellishments, the amount of hand-stitching, etc. - all these...

... but the SCA as a whole will never come close to understanding, representing, or looking like the TRUE medieval era until it can get past its intitutionalized, codified repulsion of the medieval Christian religion. And that, of course, can not and will not ever happen. More's the pity. And I don...

I respect everyone's faith. I despise everyone's religion. Faith fulfills a basic human need to believe in something. Religion is a fabrication by the powerful to control the weak. See, you're already passing judgement on folks based soley on your own perspectives and definitions, in an either-or k...

How to appropriately represent the religious life in the Middle Ages -- somewhat on topic (imo) Who's imaginary friend is more period -- not so much. Valid for a different thread, but not in one discussion annoying inaccuracies. Well, it is and it isn't. An annoying inaccuracy is someone shoving th...

Scanning through my links, I found a very interesting and relevant image here.
Charlotte, what do you think? The liripipe all rolled up, and chaperons and all that.
Cheers,
Bob

I want to butt in and say that the helm pictured above is a very good look for the harness discussed in the ITWBA Roundhead thread. While I can't vouch for the construction of the pot, it's as good an approximation of the early-C17 cavalryman's lobster-pot as I've seen for SCA heavy-lists combat. Wh...

I appreciate you advice Bob, but I am not using a modern reenactorisim to describe the object - the object is so described in the 1475 list of badges for Edward IV expedition to France. If you have access to JSTOR, hit this link, and you will see it listed m So it is a 15th century English descript...
