I think the lower profile for the wooden portion of the hilt would be better. I don't have a catalog handy, but I think you could find historical examples of handles that had sewn leather, as well as wrapped with strips.

6' is the maximum length for single combat in Calontir. ? Two unpadded polearms or spears can't fight singles? Anything over 6' is limited to melees. There were no native sources of silver in Scandinavia at the time, and the Arabic coins were there as silver sources (fur, amber, walrus ivory moves South, silver coins come back), not because Arabs were running the convenience stores. ;)

At work, before we do some of the fiberglass layups, we build up portions of the plaster casts with an industrial wax. I was looking in Davenport's History of Costume last night, and saw something that struck me as rather amusing.

There was a picture of some lamellar painted in an Egyptian tomb, c1500BC that was rather similar to the Byzantine stuff that Egfroth wears...

Did he print it after the copyright expired, and how much was he selling it for? I notice that Ken is selling a number of facsimiles of works who's copyrights have expired, so I'm not sure I'd find it unethical or dishonest to do the same.
