Strawman. The example we were given was that person A's sword broke and hit person B in the elbow, breaking said elbow. Fact - Proper swords tend to not self destruct on impact. Logical Conclusion - had person A's sword been proper, Person B's elbow would not have been shattered. All swords fail at...

Thanks everybody for the generous input! I've been a lurker here for a while and this is the first project I thought that was worth posting. Re: Teamwork

Often I hear of "the tournament fighters". Those guys who win tournaments and dominate the pickup field but somehow aren't valuable on the melee field. That's silly. Gaston It may be silly, but I know a Duke that is that way, to a degree. He might even tell you that himself. Calontir isn't necessar...

Many Kingdoms have, for years, allowed naked elbows behind shields as long as the elbow was protected between the combatant's body and the shield. You don't want to wear an elbow cop under your shield. Right so far? Have you been wearing something between your body, and the elbow on your shield, wh...

I wasn't implying folk etymology for 'buff/buffalo', just a possible source for the thick leather.

Why would moose/elk be better than buffalo for weather/horse sweat?

Your range of motion would improve if you do two things. 1. Reduce the length of the plate in the middle covering the wrist. This will place the angle of movement closer together, more closely mimicing the wrist itself. 2. Flare the cuff, and increase the diameter on the inside of the wrist, rather ...

You wouldn't be 'bowing out' of the tourney, you would be accepting that fight as a loss. If that is your last fight, well... Theoretically a pregnant woman who is due tomorrow, could enter the list today, and have all of her opponents yield, and win the tourney. That isn't terribly likely, but then...

It's from Burgkmair's Der Weisskunig, about Emperor Maximillian. Having images reversed isn't all that uncommon, I think. It would be pretty easy to get so far, and realize the mistake and not want to start over... I think even Albrecht Durer had that happen.
