Muslin runs from very thin, to a bit heavier than normal broadcloth, so a light weight canvas should work fine.

I don't think there are many people doing the potassium nitrate blueing any more. I think it has to do with getting the salt to a molten state at about 600 degrees, or so, before adding the steel. ;) I looked around a few years ago, because I'd rather have a good blue than black myself.

I suspect that it has to do with early blueing using logwood, or potassium nitrate (Oxacala blue, because this was done in the 16thC in Mexico). I had a helluva good fighting time at the one Estrella I went to.

There are some whiners, just like you will find everywhere.

There are some people that need poked with shark-sticks to take them down just like everywhere else.

I think spun-domes fall from trees there, but it is a lot of fun.

You get more bulk and restriction by doing it that way. You would be better off using a glove and padding the gauntlets.

Tassets hanging from the torso armor are the best solution. But if you were wearing a padded gambeson, you could put some plates in pockets to cover that area.

Hmmm...I am not a fan of the winner's bracket/loser's bracket double elim, but I don't actually think that there is really any problem with standard double elim. Makes for a relatively luck of the draw scenario, influenced slightly for Crown tourneys by seeding the belts equally across the fields. ...

The hugging was funny. The one guy dropped his mace on teh first shot and had no other choice but to try for a takedown. I personally thought it to be a simple boxstep dance !
