For the most part, brig limb defenses will be mid14th, I think. I'll look in my books to check and see if I can find much in the way of later examples.

The sallet looks like some examples you will find drawn by Durer.

You might think about how you are approaching 'personna' as well.

You could have the personna of a blacksmith, or, like Thomas Powers, you could be a blacksmith.

Yes, and it is what I use on my shields. Great control, lower profile, since you don't have a big handle sticking out, and when you tighten your grip on the two straps, it gets locked in place.

It wouldn't take much material to make an improvised stretcher, and you certainly wouldn't want to be carrying around that much wood with the body. The litters I've seen for corpses could be made with 2x2's or less.

I ran across this the other day, and you might find it interesting. It is about 'traditional Egyptian martial arts', mostly modern, but some interesting pictures.

There were approximately 10,000 Buddhist converts in Greece, c250BC, after Prince Asoka sent missionaries to Greece, as well as Egypt. That would be pushing it for any body of Vikings. An individual Viking or two? Perhaps. Greek mercenaries went to China after Alexander.

The Almain rivet isn't a full coverage arm protector, so it doesn't wrap around the arm. Since it would flap around with strenuous movement, it needs attached at points to keep it in place.

Actually, there is a 'ring' belt buckle in the Museum of London books, c1450? A round ring, and a pin very similar to a cotter pin attached to it.

There is also a belt in Madrid, late 15thC (c1500) that looks much like a title belt.

Here are a few pics of a chanfron made by Glendour. It is made from 18g stainless steel, and is not yet finished. It needs cheek pieces, et.

The photos are nearly a gig, so i didn't post the images directly.

Another thing you can do is to lay down a strip of tape, even duct tape. It gives you a positive index when the edge of the metal touches the tape. I did this with some thin SS, and laid down a very straight line about 27" long, on the two long edges of a 3.5" wide strip.

Some authors believe that leather armor was more common, esp. for tournaments than steel. It would certainly be cheaper, it grows on the hoof, and doesn't have to be mined, with quite a bit of capital intensive labor.

To carry a body, they often just made a framed box, with boards on the bottom. The other 5 sides would be open. Bodies don't need a rope base, they don't complain about comfort levels. ;)
