I think that this is still yet another example of someone who works at Harbor Freight/B&N/etc that uses their employee discount to buy something, and put it on ebay hoping to make a little bit of profit (or more from someone who doesn't figure s&h into the purchase price). They will at least break e...

Great helms exist that have the top plate dished, and some with a bit of a ridge on top. Even in period, they figured out that they were "mace landing fields".

Didn't Regia Anglorum have a demo at a Pennsic in the last couple years? It probably helped that it had a big name Duke involved, to get an exception to the rules granted.

Spears and Lances

"Early cavalry spears were probaly identical to the second type of infantry spear, described above, but by 1300 they were already being made with rather longer and more slender points. Shortly after this, special lances with three or more small points were adopted for jousting. These were usually fi...

Vesey Norman's "A&A, Pleasures and Treasures" (p 72)shows a boot-stirrup of a similar (if fancier) construction from the late 16th C. His example is by Pomeo della Chiesa of Milan (active 1570-1600).

I've been putting the padding in the armor for awhile now. I got tired of the bulk of the elastic on the elbows and knees. I taped some foam inside my 5 piece knees, and haven't really noticed a problem. I also made a cloth pocket to put some foam in for my gauntlets. I used my Whitney punch to make...

Rorik once told me that all the techniques we use are documentable by the laws of physics. If it delivers the requisite amount of force, it works, and they probably used it. (paraphrase)

Still checking, he wasn't back from GA when I called.

I'm doubting it though. The cheek pieces are already seperate, and there are numerous examples where the tail is made of solidly riveted lames, so you are down to the cap.

The washers on the cuff backing the rivets appear to be round. I have been told that is was not normally the case in period, although it is not conclusive. Plates appear to be well formed and articulated. Brittany? Probably not real, but I would bring crackers to bed. [This message has been edited b...

Cut the fringe off the 2 button, and it would work for a broad range of personna. I think cutting the fringe off the side-lace boots would be okay as well. There are places that sell more period styles for just a little more cash (=$20?), though.
