Egfroth has a good point. Where is the hinge point? It appears to be a little too far back. I'm thinking that it should be just about where the top rear of the ear should be. I think that for the most part, this can be adjusted after the visor is finished, because the difference between poster board...

Not bad, good price, but I would personally consider it a little light for rattan. It does meet the minimum req. for SCA though.

Thanks for the idea!

1. Make a small pointed cone out of metal, this is the tip of the pointed visor, rivet bars to it.

2. Make a disc, with an open hole, rivet bars to it. This works for the rounded visor.

Either of these could be done w/o forge welding. Pretty simple engineering, all in all.

It would have been much simpler to make a line (possibly a thicker one) for the eyeslot, and dots for breath holes, than the way the artist did it. The faceplate that has the "bars" radiating from a central point is certainly a lot more work than necessary. I think that the faceplate could certainly...

The 5/5Jr is probably the all around favorite. If you will be punching holes in a lot of thick material, you might want to get something larger in addition to it. Much of the time the 5/5Jr comes with multiple punch sets, and others you find come with only one.

I get the impression that "ronin" is pretty late, if not out of period.

"Hatamoto" I believe roughly translates as "banner knight". I am not sure if it is about the same as WE bachelor knight or what.

I would make the eye holes much longer, almost to the extent of my peripheral vision. The good thing is, you can wait until the piece is virtually done before extending them. I would have to check on the exact timeframe, but one neat set of holes would be those rectangles, with circular holes in the...

Take it for what you will, but you are supposed to start with 1 1/4" rattan and then tape for it to be legal. You can get away with taping an undersized stick, but you are breaking the rules.
