A link would be helpful. If the piece is 1 1/4" wide, I don't think there would be a problem, as long as it is not too far from your hand/gauntlet. I do think that unless it is awful thick, for that width, it is likely to collapse when hit. Simple knuckle bows are period, but you probably need steel...

I don't think I would pay $125 for a book I couldn't look at first. Surely you could get it through interlibrary loan if they won't open it.

I don't think you would get the strength out of cast steel that you would want or need, at least at the level of technology you would have available in a home shop. I jcould be wrong.

I doubt it. I did recently see in a book a blade on which the tip was split. It was quite strange, seeing a blade with a gap in it at the end.

Yes it would, but so is SS, and I don't think that they would allow an 18g SS helm. The problem is that they have no real way to check whether it is properly heat treated or not. The marshals did pass a ceramic helm at Pennsic once...

It is always okay to pass the buck further up the ladder. "Your armor does not meet the requirements as I understand them, please feel free to appeal my decision to the Earl Marshal or King". If it is a Count, Knight, Duke or whatever, the KEM will probably decide that they have signed their waiver,...

I asked one of the sellers on ebay (who had both steel and aluminum) about it. From his answer, I gather that the steel ones will take a greater pressure, and are suited for welding, while the Al ones are suited more for beer, etc. That's how he listed them. They probably don't pack as much gas in t...

I don't what kind of rubber is used, the best axe I've seen lately was formed mostly out of leather, with some sort of foam core. Looks great, I'll try to see about having the maker email you.
