Cover the parts you don't want to see with suede. To continue down to the shoulders, try it first with cloth until you have adjusted it to the fit you like, then cut the leather.

Black and White Burgeonet at Pennsic

A friend of mine (Glendour- Talon Armory) had this helm on display at Pennsic, and I was wondering if any of you saw it and what did you think? I saw it before it was finished and painted, and was curious.

A few years ago, two friends and I were plinking in a rural area. We'd shot there before (private property that we had access to) and had been shooting a number of pistols and other items. It is a large, overgrown field. We look up and about 30-40 yards away we see a lone police officer heading our ...

I've seen references to similarily designed "mail" in Japan. They were still making that type of shirt in the 18th/19th C, if not of that design. Looks like a less "skill intensive" way to make a shirt.

One coat of plates I was looking at from about 1500 (don't remember exactly, but it was pretty late), had rather small plates. No sleeves to mention, and it didn't go much below the waist. It weighed 24 pounds. It had a lot of rivets, but not they wouldn't weigh THAT much, so the plates in this suit...

I know it was used on some brigandines, which makes sense because of the amount of surface area and the cloth to hold in sweat and water would ruin it rather quick.

For the quickest overview of an area, I would start with some of the Man-at-Arms series on the particular topic, and then look for more detailed and accurate info elsewhere. Osprey's series isn't bad, but it is sort of like using "Cliff Notes".
