These last are privately held tournaments because we are not allowed to require specific time/place garb for participation in SCA events. But we CAN require certain types of armour. So we could say for the torchlight tournament of St. Gertrude the paingiver, you must be armoured according to the fo...

<i>That harness predates the powerful longbow of the later periods, so it's not realistic to make use a longbow for the comparison (and when the longbow did become widespread, plate was added, so it wasn't very effective against armor then, either, although it was apparently relatively effective aga...

Hmmm the proiblem I see withthe "arrows didnt stop armoured men" is that while we may focus on the tournaments of the 14-16th centuries, we are all assumed to be wearing armour of the 11th. If you had a pair of goggles that let you see the armour we are ASSUMED to wear, It would be like looking at t...

Ok...simple latin lesson. Adverbs are declensionless. If you know that X is the form of he adverb in lating, then it will always be X. difficilis is the word for hard when used as an ajective IE: the test is hard

To make a adverb from it, you add-iter to the stem

So the adverb is: difficiliter

difficiliter degere, difficiliter laborare, difficiliter percare

Is what I get...And its a pretty straight on translation

Mainly because so many types of helmets are called sallets. German sallets, German export sallets, lobstertail sallets, black sallets, bellows sallets, ETC. RE: Stearic acid. Stearic acid (usually in the form of stearate flakes) are used in candlemaking to raise the melting point of the wax. Thsi results in a harder candel, which tends to be dripless. Adding it to wax for impregnation hardening will tend to result in a wax that resists melting. As to wa...

Its is verboten to soak the rattan in any substance that will signifigantly reduce the flexibility. Oil, glycerin, etc usually DONT reduce the flexibility. Glue, fibreglas resin, etc DO.

well if you are channel stuiffing to a circular degree, you need to find a ratio of circumfrence to diameter. and multiply that times the amount of fabric you would need for a non quilted garment. I'd suggest a number a little bigger than 3.

Ideally, I'd like to see it in stainless, BUT, a plastic version would be cool too...
