WMA: that's not the issue. The swiss helm i have gagued at 16 ga. That should cover the legality, as to saftey, if you've ever buggered with ww2 pots, you know how hard they are (pretty much they are hardened carbon steel). most of the WW2 german style helmets are sallets. a lil work will make a nice helm. Now... the problem is Rumour has it if you want to use it as an SCA combat helm it is against the rules.

Well if you dont have sleeves on it yet, have you tried flipping it?

As an aside, I think historians are pretty sure he never used the appeleation tepes himself. Most people dont use thier derogatory by names/ epithets. In a similar example, William of normandy MAY have called himself "william the conquerer" but probably not "william the bastard"
