after our baronies 12th night, I was helping take down the stuff, and then helped a couple ladies pack thier car... One of them made some comment about how men dont understand how much workj it takes, or something, then she said, but i dont think you are like that. Most guys throw off the armour, to...

I toyed with the idea of using Alan Baldtree' s "georget" pattern to make leather gorgets for sale. I went so far as to buy the leather. After thiunking about it, I figured it would be best to write the gentleman and ask if it was ok. Never got anything back. Oh well. I DID sell one, but it was my p...

since it says that the vertical and horizontal threads in weaving are called warp and woof. They are. The warp threads are the long ones wound onto the loom (which we will call vertical)and the woof is the thread in the shuttle. Dont believe me? : http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=woof...

From my limited school demo experience: Younger kids are interested in a lot of different things, though many want to know about children in the middle ages. ("did medieval parents love thier children") Older children may want more combat oriented info, but be careful. One lady here had a 12-14 YO g...

hey conrad, I think the general idea was that it be limited to tourneys, and then only by mutual agreement. As in, An opponent may refuse to allow grappeling with no loss of honour. Further, the bout should continue, sans grappleing. Kinda like the light fighting rule about long weapons. If you say ...

In my humble opinion, I do not want to take a shot from a 300 pounder who thinks that using all his weight and strength is needed to "cut" through plate, brig, or whatever That's what we do now. A person uses the amount of force he deems neccessary to cleave thru maille and padding and wound you to...

If he does and one of the knights follows that order, I will personally make it my mission in life to make them both pay for acting against the sanctity of the Order. The knight foremost for he has the graver sin, that of violating the code of chivalry (as far as I see it) and the master/king for a...

Yes. That's how its traditionally done. If I'm not mistaken, the king calls the individual forward, and a knight stands beside him, the knight holds the dubbing sword, and the king puts his hand over it. Then the knight administers the dubbing speach. i of course could be wrong. As a corollary, what...

I would wager that the afforementioned garmat, if it existed was less of a heraldric drawing boards, and more of a rain/sun/fricken cold barrier, but that's unfounded specualtion. As to the existance of heraldy, as best i can tell, there was at least one court of chivalry conveined over conflicting ...

From what I hear the COH has been discussing giving CVD between talbots and greyhounds. In my opinion (as much as a branch deputy herald 's opinion is worth--not too much) the two were different charges in period, and the two had different percievable outlines (see my previous post) For conflicts: C...

IF I'm not mistaken, the person may or may not have been a mormon, but was in seminary at the time, and either had what he believed to be a conflict of interest, or a religious revelation that made him feel uncomfortable. Could it have been done? Yes. Was it done? I dunno. your best bet would be to look at accounts of behours tourneys.
