FibreGlass and Aluminum are used a lot for target archery, and competitions, So i dont think they would be terribly much slower than wood. They just dont have the tendancy to break into giant sharp splinters

I know vinegar and salt will polish pennies nicely. I THINK the salt causes more of the H+ ions to dissociate, causing the acid to be more effective... but i could be wrong.

since it says that the vertical and horizontal threads in weaving are called warp and woof. They are. The warp threads are the long ones wound onto the loom (which we will call vertical)and the woof is the thread in the shuttle. well i'm pretty sure they were worn WITH brigs. (over them, for additional protection) If you are referring to making a brig/ COP with one big bulging plate over the gut area, then you might look into a corrazina, which may or may not be authentic.

Option 2: Take it to kinkos. They can do poster sized print outs (on poster board no less)

you obviously dont spent too much time in the south, where humidity can rust damn near anything...
