Its a rule that's in the society guidelines as an option. Most kingdoms dont use it...

By "real" I'm assuming you mean authentic period (ie from back in the day). Your best bet would be to contact the larger auction houses, and see if they have any armour coming up on the block. at this point, the armour is going to be either held by a museum, or a private collector. Mordreth: Its not a question of wether a blow from a weapon could damage the armour. if that were the case, give me what we call a "busting maul" you might call it a splitting maul, its a heavy axe like implement used to split firewood. a peasants weapon. it should work... although, as aidan said, i would be wary of a low temp melting wax... all you're doing is using saturation hardening, no chance of denaturization. Buy canning parrafin (add stearate if you want) and soak your leather in it for a good while, until it stops foaming... that's the way ...
