Some creature comforts might be nice. A proper brazier, shaving bowl (doubles as a helm for the quixote types), pitcher and "sink"/basin, that sorta thing... Another thing that might be cool, but i dunno how well it would work, would be prinicpal heraldric charges in brass/pewter/aluminum for rivett...

The way one COULD do it, would be to have lugs on the inside of the helmet. that way, a given face poke could only push the mempo back so far.

As to putting the mempo over a bargrill, it si doable, but that's a mucking big mempo. (especially for something that is supposed to fit to your face)

LOL

From my understanding leine is the ?gaelic? word for linen. But the type of shirt you are probably talikning about is definately documentable for the later period, And, if i'm not mistaken we have some evidence for it to have been used earlier, even much earlier.

I dont believe that the wrap shot was ever used against an armoured opponent during the period we portray. There is some evidence that the back side of the blade was used to SLICE the back side of an opponents torso/limbs. In these cases those areas, or the entire body, are unarmoured. Using the des...

This should be on the faq... "why do they do XXXXXX in the SCA, its not in the rules." Answer: SCA penchant for orthodoxy... same reason people throw wraps. Same reason waxed leather is so common. Same reason people throw a fit when ANY rule change is mentioned. It all boils down to the "its what we...

To address the mellee "cheaters", merely make it an engagement issue. When you are engaged, three blows will be required to force you to retire. if you break engagement (forcing all comers to yeild/retire, or they happen to see the prince off by himself and leave you), then your blow count resets. -+G

I'll second steve's advice... dont steal stopsigns. or "bridge out" signs, or anyother sign...

if you must steal a road sign, pick something like: "this area litter patrolled by troop 113" or "speed checked by detection devices"

Just dont do it...

It is environmentally unfreindly
no tow sticks are alike due to organic origin
it is short lived for what we do
it is difficult to get a uniform thickness and straighness
it promotes the use of ugly ducttape...

If i'm not mistaken scale (both mill and forge) is ferric oxide. Rust is ferrous oxide. Therefore the inclusion of one tends to exclude the other (though, with the proper process, one can be turned into another).
