Just a thought:

Notice how each of the races got rings, except the hobbits? (well and the orcs)

maybe hobbits and orcs are the fertile, true breeding off spring of the dwarves and elves/ humans.

(hobbits being elf-dwarf, orcs human-dwarf)

i know talk about a far out idea...

I'd probably go with painting the critter down with plumbers paste flux, then heating the backside with a torch while appling solder on the otherside.

Prettymuch following the directions for "sweating" pipe joints...

I dont think beeswax is harder than parafin...Just as an aside...

As to which wax is best.... I've never used anything except parafin...

Parlan: I always considered there to be 3 orders of knight hood; the Order of the laurel, the order of the pelican, and the order of Chivalry (though, for sake of compatability, the order of the White Belt sounds better)

Spider silk is some serious cool stuff. its formed of molecules arranged thus /\/\/\/\/\/ (actually the angles are right angles. The stuff is stronger than steel. We have goats now that have been modified to produce the silkproteins in thier milk... still kinda pricey, but one day, we'll have the so...

You MIGHT be able to get decent results from lammelar of some kind. It was created to deal with focoused force missiles (arrows from composite bows). You'd probly have to use a wicked thick lammella... maybe some testing is in order...
