I'm definately against exposed plastic. Its an eyesore (most of the time) and blatantly mon period (unless your period is 2079, after the fall of the new berlin moon colony). It all boils down to suspension of disbelief. There exists for all of us, a line, that once crossed destroys any "magic" we h...

Have y'all considered that not everyone wears a lot of armor. The only armor that I have between my kidney belt and my gorget are my ribs, a t-shirt and a broadcloth surcoat. I don't wear upper or lower leg armor nor upper arm armor. If you're cranked up to nail someone with a breastplate, you'll s...

BTW:

I did some searching for pictures of "whale bone" (actually the balleen of balene whales). Every picture i could find had it either black, or a dark brown. If I'm not mistaken, there are precious few species that have white or tan balene.
So maybe an acetone wipe on siloflex?

You anglo-centricist. I believe, for SCA heraldry, the convention is not used, either due to lessening the load for heralds, or because such practice was not uniform across the period and regions the SCA covers. I will admit that the other blazon is tecnichaly accurate. Heraldry is like that sometim...

It could be blazoned that way, however, I believe the official blazon is:

Azure, a cross arrondi between four roundels, a bordure argent.

50-50? Doesn't that mean that half of the current knights are fighting below what they require of entry level knights? Of course, those are the guys that were knighted back in the day, when you could be knighted after a year or two. Always struck me as funny that it took say 2 years to become a kni...

Here's a thought: A steel dog collar gorget, paddr, and wrapped in leather At the top seam, there is a strip of leather that sticks up. Then have the maille attach to the strip of leather that sticks up. From the outside it looks like a standard, but protects liek a dog collar.

The convers is also true. Because the market will not bear the price of really good work, we see bad work. poll the scadian mass, and you'll see that the "ideal helm" is perfectly formed, alows superior vision, mobility and comfort while staying under the 150 dollar mark. To quote a fellow archiver: "Rev is a big, big boy" around 6'5" about 300 lbs 19" bicep 8" wrist 20" neck 24.5" head 56" chest (when flexed) As for the sizing on the fencing mask, like i said its a lil small for me. it is though adjustable, so that pretty much means i am just beyond the extrema. -+G

You've got to be joking, right? Flat sheets straight from the mill will rust no matter how shiny they are. Polished steel will rust faster that blued / blackened steel, and requires more care Polished steel does resist rusting more than unpolished. dont believe me? take a sheet of stel. Polish it. ...

If I'm not mistaken, the gorget could be used for fencing as well. But otherwise no. I bought the mask in order to start my kit. sigh.

Of course I can make SCa fencing "armour" so there is an option too.

White/ beige siloflex

Do they make it? reason I ask is that one way of looking at what we do is to think of it as a whale bone behourd. would a siloflexed sword (in dingy white/beige) look better than out duct tape standard?
