well honor for one and the fact you would lose all respect as a fighter playing that way Nice, but I had said: got to wondering, aside from my good intentions and honor, what would stop me from entering crown list and just shucking blows *I* wouldnt do it, but the question is, since everyone is so ...

Ok, what would stop me (or any one else)
I got to thinking about the "explaining SCA blow calling" thread, and got to wondering, aside from my good intentions and honor, what would stop me from entering crown list and just shucking blows till i got a crown on my head? Now I have to be able to throw a blow that wont be shucked, which I'm ce...

I really doubt that you will ever be able to generate the amount of power needed to run a heater off of a solar panel. Look at the specs for the panel (I can not link to any .com sites here). I doubt that it will be over five watts. Look at the specs for the inverter (and it’s efficiency rat...

I've done the rock thing when i was in Boy scouts... it works if you have enough rocks and you get them wicked hot... (avoid river stones, btw) But it is still cold in the morning. in theory, you could make a metal grate-can out of flatsock and fill it with quarry tile pieces (like a pizza stone) an...

Nah, Irish, you've got me wrong. What I meant was that the A-frame, though cheaper to make/buy, which accompanies a 15thC camp is still as jarring to my eyes as a white car port. Here's a pic of a 15th century camp. This is from the italian engineering treatise "De Machinis" http://home.adelphi.edu...

I'll second the pre-flattening step. (actually, I think I "firsted" it, way back in the day) A pre-flatten will prevent all manner of skipping, and will be nigh impossible to tell from non pre-flattened rings. As for closing the rings to overlap, a pair of pliers witha rounded well (most needle nose...

[i]However if someone gets torqued off enough or feels I did not take a blow I should have they then feel they have the right or even the duty to hit me harder and risk doing real damage to me. I realize this hobby has certain risks but we also have rules to provide us a reasonable measure of protec...

It is my belief that elevating a fencer to an existing order (laurel or pelican) would or should require either historical or service focus. Now, a NEW peerage (Order of the heron? I know too Jordan...how about "order of the peacock") could well focus primarily on SCA spoecific prowwss and still acc...

1. Is it not Meridian and SCA standard that regardless of whether a person is wearing leather, scale, chain, or plastic (covered) armor - all of us on the field are considered to be wearing an opened faced helmet, a padded gambison, a chain mail shirt with belt. Should we not be gauging our blows t...

I doint believe the War crown was nullified. Aveloc (now banished- draw your own conclusions) was very careful to follow the letter of the rules. After the fact the board changed the rules so that no future war crowns could be fought, much to pity. (as choosing a king by the clash of t forces is mor...

Studded leather is a viable armour type? How so? the studs on the leather are rivet heads holding metal or hardened leather, or some other rigid material to the inside of the outer garment....AKA coats of plates or brigandines. Read what I wrote. I said it wasn't a historical type, but then neither...
