I try and get away with using none of the above. my "rules" excuse is that my swords are bastard swords which are exempt from needing straps. Its stupid to tie your sword to your hand. Also, I like to drop a sword occasionally and pull my knife and shank someone in the face. Hard to do if...

So which is it? Is it a weak weapon that is easy to defeat, or a too powerful weapon that takes advantage of our system? Or maybe it is just another of our many weapon systems that has advantages and disadvantages. One thing that is not right is to group all two weapon fighters into "Madu Figh...

just to re state, No clackers on 2 handed weapons, period. No, in Calontir, No SILOFLEX clackers, period. Rattan clackers on both single and 2 handed weapons are fine, as long as they pass inspection. Do you have any documentation for it? I checked the calontir book and saw nothing for or against.

ohboy. Yep. I do not think gaining the Crown of any kingdom and then banning madus is going to be effective. The fighters of that kingdom will, at best, simply put the weapon away for the period of the reign. You can not control what other people use. You can only require that what is being used is...

As with anything else, its a bit goofy to see a Celt fighting with it, about as goofy as it would be for me to pick up a great sword. But then, this is the SCA, so we're all a bit goofy. I would be thrilled to see an entire unit with Indian armor and madus at Pennsic. Besides, what makes the Viking...

I was kind of hoping you guys could describe fighting against them. They aren't very poular in the middle, meaning people don't use them. Couple probably do but i have never fought against one. They don't sound like it is a hard weapon to beat.

Personally, i think the siloflex clackers would be as safe as rattan, but sometime, siloflex after hitting armour wrong develops a sharp edge, which i have been scratched pretty badly by. but it was one of thos one in a millions. The reasoning on why we can't use it as pol...

Yeah, 1/8 ich thick? that is iway to thick, that is roughly 2 gauge, but sheet metal is'nt realy measured like that when it gets that thick. For a spangen you could do the whole project using 14 ga.

Good luck and remember to post pics when your done!
