One point that my Knight made about pole-arm hafts: For the longest time, I always sought out the straightest possible pieces of rattan for pole-arm hafts. Then my Knight explained something to me. Use a slightly curved piece for a pole-arm haft. Align the blade such that when you relax your grip, ...

Ya know, it so damned cool for a newbie metal pounder like me that I'm almost embarassed to say what it was... but I will. It was an honest-to-god full sized ball stake. EASILY worth $40 on its own. So take heed ye denizens of the AA: When Hal throws in a mystery suprise tool, he farkin MEANS it. I...

Ice has good rattan in person, what he would send you i have no doubt would be good as well. I bought a stave from Icefalcon at pennsic once because i looked down while my buddy was trying on a bp and saw this piece glowing in the pile, and angels singing. it was about 10 ft long straigh and tapered...

I'll just note that doing that is against the rules in the SCA. Sir Gavin, I've never done this, but does linseed oil hinder the flexability of the rattan, or another factor I'm not considering? Niall Mor, When I put thrusting tips on my swords (not often), I will use an 8" piece of nylon stra...

Or, it could become the "Golden Age" of WMA. Some of it might be a fear that all the skeletons the SCA has in it's closet will be exposed in the media blitz as a WMA "Bruce Lee" is found. And when the SCA isn't "the only game in town", it will become much more difficul...

Re: Cleaning new riveted mail

I recently bought a stainless riveted chainmail hauberk and of course it has lots of black that comes off onto everything.
