Agnarr,

Just for clarity, do you mean 36" from tip to hilt, or does the 36" include what's going to be passed through the hilt for me to hold onto?

I'm around 6 foot 1 or 2. i use a variety of swords. I say go with 36, if that is to much you can cut down later.

Seriously,

36" is pretty good for a sword. Cut it down from there. trim your handle out till it feels comfortable in your hand.
also, make sure the basket hilt is tight on the sword.

powder coat lasts till christ comes back it moves with the dents and dosn't flake off, its takes a hard scratching to have any effect either, there are a half dozen guys around here with p coated helms, one of the locals works in a parking meter plant and its the same coating they use on the meters...

You want tools, build her something nice with the ones you have and complain it would have been nicer but you didn't have 'x' or 'y'.
