You have to use wool, it sticks to itself more naturally.

I have a pair of the Historic enterprise ones, and they are cheaper than making them yourself.

I wear thick leather bazubands. i wear an elbow pad. I would never dream of padding my forearm and i have taken full speed pole arm shots to them. it stings for a second but gos away. Same here... Did you want to be able to generate a killing thrust with your shield without mounting a thrusting tip or did you want to be able to manuver your opponent shield with your weapon without a thrusting tip?
