?can someone fill me in on the pro's and con's of shaping the blade vs just leaving it round and slapping some tape on it? Rattan has a hard outer shell. if you shape it, you remove this shell. the sword will pulp out a LOT faster regardless of how well you tape it. IE, it won't last as long...by a ...

Someone bids 199. Reserve not met, BIN still there. Then someone bids 200, resevere is met, and the BIN price ...

Pee? You don't have a tourney/war block? You should look into getting one of those. I don't pee from the time I put on armour until I armour down...then I have to go like a racehorse. It's convenient. And I drink a LOT during fighting. What do I eat? Well, my operational deffinition of the word "eve...

So this helm, made from stainless, is "sca sport armour" and is therefore "appaling"?

I'd rather play matched poles with heads, because I think it's more realistic and LOOKS cooler. But I don't like big bulky heads, they're too heavy and unweildy. It varies from fighter to fighter. Most people's "practice" is more like "showing up, throwing on armour, fighting a bit in between having fun talking to friends." Most people don't treat fighter practice as TRAINING. Just my observations.

It's also natural, tho unnecessary, to feel uncomfortable around people 20-35 years your senior. If that's the case, you're old enough to be any of their fathers, so that makes it tough for people to treat you as a newbie. You ARE new to the SCA, but you have life experience and such. It's hard to e...

Marshalls aren't required to wear armour. As a marshall, my only concern for the cameraman would be if he got too involved in what he was filming and lost awareness of what might be about to run his ass over.

Sorry, I do NOT buy the "leg shot in SCA combat is equal to having the leg severed historically." If that leg was hit so hard it was severed, it'd be a killing blow. There are some noticablely large blood vessals in there. And since a legal leg shot is at least an inch above the knee, if it's severe...
