Well, if everyone else is taking the wristy flicky stuff, I'd be suprised if somone who's taking "old school" who had some reasonable skill didn't win. That's not in any way a slam, just a fact. I don't personally like full force face shots, but I don't like touch kill to the face either. I want SOM...

A further reality is that often families are in the same socio-economic group and may tend toward jobs that are similar. Just because 7 Generations of the Dobie Gillis family were all coal miners and died of lung cancer, that doesn't mean the family had a genetic disposition toward lung cancer. http...

Oh...a point on the side of those who don't like the SCA domination...this sub is re-ENACTMENT of medieval armed combat. Not re-creation. Of course, any fighting that's competitive isn't really re-ENACTMENT. But that's just my opinion. Maybe a new sub for re-creation. Then we can watch this sub die ...

Frankly, I think an icon that says NON-SCA ONLY would be MUCH more appropriate. An icon for those who stylize themselves as purists that says, "I don't want SCA applications and viewpoints in this thread." Icons should help identify a thread...if 90% of the discussions are SCA, then 1 of 2 things wo...

I recently had Patrick whip out some 5 piece knees for me. We looked at books for about 15 minutes (I live 15 miles from Patrick) and I gave him ideas of what I wanted and WHAM the knees were done very shortly. They look awesome. I haven't done anything else for a review, so I thought I'd just tag a...

I've been doing the internet thing a long time, since way before it got popular. I'm a usenet and BBS user from the 80s. I've seen a LOT of discussions come and go. And in that time, I've seen a lot of people post the same general post we see here by Templar Bob. And what David says below is the ONL...

No, that pic was taken at a King's Champion tournament. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif You were thinking about showing up at a Wednesday practice, right? That's a pretty straight s/sh practice, sadly. The Sunday practice (the official Baronial practice) usually has non-s/sh weapons being...

Hehe....no worries, Richard. You are right, the internet is a VERY imperfect medium for communication...but even with all its faults, it's better than nothing. Without it, we coulnd't have this conversation and would likely never meet. By the time I get around to going to Pennsic again, I'm sure we'...

Doesn't Northshield have the Order of the Pixis? I know that appearance was part of the requirement for the Sherrif, but that was a fighting award. But Pixis is period appearance, encampment, and all that neat jazz, isn't it?
quote:
<font fa...

DOH! I need to pepper more http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif into that. Feathers totally unruffeled. Which, btw, is a silly analogy as any bird owner will tell you. Birds most often puff their feathers up when they're happy. When they flatten them tight against their body, that's when they'...

But Sir, then you're calling me a idiot...again, so I should be used to it. Your argument is specious. How do you know I'm not trying to disarm you? Simple. The same way you assume when I'm swinging at your head you know I'm trying to hit you in the head. It's part of the game we play. Disarming you...

http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I didn't think I'd get you over to my side of the argument by any means, so we'll have to agree to disagree. Richard: You misunderstand. I don't care if you drop your weapon.
