I agree that is a large part of why I love the SCA as well. It would just seem to me that cleaning up the rules for melee and war would allow EVERYONE to have MORE fun without ARGUING. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif And the answer is Shiner Bock, because I'm from Texas. http://www.armour...

Sarnac, I'd like to hear your thought on my idea just above your last post. You keep saying "Pennsic is a war." Well, I'd like to HUGELY disagree with you. Pennsic is an EVENT. Pennsic has shopping. Wars didn't have shopping. Pennsic has "enemies" camping next to each other. Wars didn't. Pennsic has...

A) There were medieval tournaments that were participated in by non-nobles. I can get the source if you'd like. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif B) I tend to agree with Richard in his options in his early post. What *I* would like to see is "both." http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gi...

Irish: My appologies. *I* misread what Crystol said. I agree with you. This shit is NOT a good transition from kydex. I'd rather see covered kydex for the GOOD no-armour look than this stuff uncovered anyday. Crystol: I agree with your sentiment about getting people out to play. But the reality is, ...

Irish...he said "more period." Why did you read that as a transition from kydex to badly designed metal? I'm sure by "more period" he MEANT well designed good armour.

But Sarnac, it is NOT a "basic" spuntop helm. It's a spuntop helm with an articulated tail. Image

The conversaitons after the battle have gone like this "You were dead." "It wasn't 10 feet!" "I could have hit you." "I HAVE DIAMONDS!!!!" Or: "It was under 10 feet." Marshall: "I didn't see it." It doesn't ruin my day, so I don't get aggrivated. I was merely pointing out that non-yeilding archers a...

I'm not an archery fan. I've never hit an archer. But I tell you what, I've had an order of magnitude more archers flee after I yelled at them to yeild from under 10' than I've ever had actually yeild. That does NOT excuse a heavy hitting a yeilding archer. But if my experience is common (I don't kn...

Yeah, when I look at it, I think the same thing...it looks like the bottom of the front of the grill would be around your sternum. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I agree..the bars not being supported would mean that ever other time you inspect, SOME of the gaps will be too big and you'll...

I think that these two gentlemen are both on the right track...It just depends on how thick the metal is. I don't believe ANY kingdom has a guage requirement on body armour, do they? I mean it's normally "hard over soft" where leather over padding is ok, so usually think metal paddes is also OK. But...

Archers and 10' Kill....I can't tell you how often I've been almost on top of an archer (less than 6') and COULD have run them down and hit them, yelled "archer you're dead!" and had them turn around and run away. I just re-read it....I missed the part (I don't know how) about how you were in lines engaged with each other. Obviously the guy broke through your front rank, but that's engaged. So I'd say 1st or 2nd. Personally, in a "move your head" area, perhaps going defensive and asking if he was being nice. ...

If you're in an area where "your head has to move" with a face thrust you should take 2nd or 3rd, depending on if he had engagement or not. If you're in an area of basically "touch" to the face, you should take 1st or 2nd, depending on if he had engagement. Is that about right? http://www.armourarch...

I'm with Vitus...and maybe even would take the 2nd shot.
