Keep 'em in! You want to be the best you have to beat the best. And BELIEVE ME, the word fame you gain by beating Duke X or Count Y in a list or merely giving them a DAMN good fight is much more than actually WINNING a tourney full of people at your level or barely above. I'd bet that more would be ...

I think that the disagreement here is an apples/oranges thing. I never said it was unchivalrous to target an unarmoured area. I said it is unchivalrous to target an unarmoured area AND POWER UP TO CAUSE EXTRA PAIN. The first uncapitalized part is only unchivalrous when accompanied with the second ca...

As a squire, I couldn't agree more. I know that when I think "Knights of Ansteorra", the knights that dress well I can see in my mind's eye dressed head to toe. The knights that do not dress well, I can see their faces. I've seen t-tunics that were pretty dang swank for a t-tunic. It can be done. Ea...

I wonder about the chivlarousness of an individual who GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY to hit unarmoured spots, except in a case like Bedlam mentioned above. (I just agreed with a Tuchux?) http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/wink.gif teasing, man. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I think it's dishonora...

I understand the safety issues. The funny thing with MY helms is that a full force face shot doesn't bother me. Close helm and armet. I've been shield punched like an uppercut with a 3 1/2 foot long 1/2" thick kite and I just said, "You really should be careful, that will bother or hurt some people....

Parlan...I didn't suggest that I HAD to have a longer shield because I'm tall. I happen to prefer it. My point had nothing to do with the mechanics of fighting, but more a question of the statement about the chivalry of a fighter with a larger or smaller shield. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear about t...

So now I'm less chivalrous than Vitus because I cover my 6'4" with a 20x42 shield and he covers his 5'6ish" (am I being generous?) with a much shorter shield? I hope not. I certainly woulnd't enjoy starting every fight with a shot to the thigh. Heck, I'd just START on my knees to avoid the pain! htt...

I have two sinnric helms. My armet's spring pings are a bit weak and a good shot can shock the thing and the visor can pop open. Not much, and it's heavy, but a little. Makes some people nervous. I'm not one of them. It's been a LONG time since I've fought in my close (I'll have it back soon, yeah!)...
