Me, I'd recommend a close helm with integrated bevor and gorget. Image It REALLY solves the "I hate things around my neck" problem.

Keep 'em in! You want to be the best you have to beat the best. I think that the disagreement here is an apples/oranges thing. I never said it was unchivalrous to target an unarmoured area. I said it is unchivalrous to target an unarmoured area AND POWER UP TO CAUSE EXTRA PAIN. The first uncapitalized part is only unchivalrous when accompanied with the second ca...

As a squire, I couldn't agree more. I know that when I think "Knights of Ansteorra", the knights that dress well I can see in my mind's eye dressed head to toe. The knights that do not dress well, I can see their faces. I've seen t-tunics that were pretty dang swank for a t-tunic. It can be done. Ea...

I understand the safety issues. The funny thing with MY helms is that a full force face shot doesn't bother me. Close helm and armet. Parlan...I didn't suggest that I HAD to have a longer shield because I'm tall. I happen to prefer it. No support to speak of. The sole is basically to keep rocks from poking the bottoms of your feet. A good insole insert is highly recommended.

How many guys out there have angel wings that tie up body shots and the do NOT take them?

I think if the shot would have hit you in minimum armour and tabbard, you should take it, rather than have the totally CHEEZY win due to your frigging extra equipment.
