Cut off an inch of the "pointy" end to make a blunt end and you'll solve that "pointy" problem.

The tearing off problem, I'm afraid I don't have any ideas.

Actually...

DUH!

I totally mis-read that post. My initial read was that he wasn't familiar with "...AEMMA, or the other groups would could have posted here..." which I took to include the SCA. Image Mea culpa.

The SCA also falls back from the first because even with our slightly limited targets, we're sure as hell not "REAL" fighting. Since we fight often to a single SIGNIFICANTLY NON-DEBILITATING blow, that's a far cry from a "real" fight. The standard of real fighting with fake weapons would describe Cl...

I will only speak of the SCA, as it is the only medieval group with which I've ever been affiliated. In the SCA, everyone wears a variety of armour from very authentic to not-authentic. From full white harness to all hidden armour to simulate those societies where there was no real armour worn. Beca...

Discussing legitimate complaints makes for a better understanding of our issues, and helps clarify what we really want from our organizations and what direction we want our re-creation and re-enactment to go. Of course the SCA is like UO. Or more specifically, UO is like the SCA. The guy who created Ultima is an SCA guy from way back, and many Ultima characters are actually SCA people from Ansteorra (Texas). Neat, eh?

I like that I have friends all over the country in the SCA. When I go to big events in different places, we hunt each other down to enjoy each other's company and have a great time. Aiden: As WE don't fight to submission, but to a single counted blow, I seriously DOUBT that many fights in period "to a counted blow" would end with someone prostrated or prone. Just my concept of reality, it sure doesn't have to be yours. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif

It's beautiful work. The problem you will almost always face being where you are is that shipping is spendy. Now, if you were making $500 steel helms, the extra 20 or whatever on shipping wouldn't be such a high price. But on a $60 item, an extra $10 is a significant percentage. I know it sucks and ...

I pretty well limit it to letting my opponent fight with his primary hand if I take his sword arm. Lose the shield, but you don't have to fight off handed if you don't want. That kind of thing. That is if they don't wish to yield, which is pretty common in Ansteorra. I don't like it when I lose a le...

I agree with Asbjorn. If you use it 1 handed only, you should be allowed a low pro. But you should have your card yanked if you grab it two handed and thrust with it, in my opinion.
