I've never heard of the SCA having any metal thickness requirement for any armour except the helm. Since we're allowed to wear a leather body belt, it'd be pretty silly to require 18 gauge for a breastplate. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Of course, if you're using tin foil, it WILL get ...

Since I can't see in the picture TOO well, I'm really curious about the bar grill that sticks up from the crossbar. It looks in the picture like it would be relatively easy to bend, and it could get bend into the inside of the helm and poke you, probably in the nose. That'd be my first question as a...

Then I'll appologize for over-reacting. Your initial post of "no", due to its terseness (is that a word?) I interpreted as being a rude brush-off. Your characterization of Duke Palymar, a person I've never met, I'm unable to dispute for that very reason. Unfortunately he's not here to defend himself...

Hey Bascot: For someone who was totally uninterested in this thread (to quote your first reply "NO") you've sure come back to crap on it. Anything more I'd say on this would doubtless be subject to censorship, so I'll leave it at that. I'd second Duke Rorik of AnTir. Trelon would be cool. Hell, to m...

I wanted to respond to something that Bartel said with a few observations and philosophies of my own. Statement: Most people don't "train" or "practice" at fighter practice. They engage in 3 activities. 1) Talking about fighting, 2) talking about other stuff and 3) fighting a bit. In that order. Fig...

The Middle is big. There are a lot of people to meet, faces to remember. It's easier to be REMEMBERED in other kingdoms, so it's maybe easier to get knighted. But I know that people in the middle of nowhere in the Middle Kingdom get knighted because they deserve it and it doesn't necessarily take fo...

Well, we HAVE an "excessive force" rule in Ansteorra. Sure, perhaps it takes a little while and a few complaints befor anything gets done. Is it "An Tir's New War Tourney Format" or is it "The format that An Tir used in the last crown because that particular King wanted it that way"? I think it's the latter, not the former. I could be wrong.

Perhaps individual manufacturers use different colors for their thicknesses and when you go to a different region for example, black is the "thick color" there insted of the "thin color." Just a guess. Ld. Ondart de Clermont said: Well, I look at it like this. Unless you are still *very* new to SCA ...

He puts those comments in because he has a "basic auction" set up for all helms and just keeps plugging new items into it. He makes very few changes and sells all of his helms with the same format. it's way faster for a big "power seller" like him. And I think he's being very reasonable in putting t...
